Dr. Yoshiyuki Kaneda

BIOGRPHY:

Dr Yoshiyuki Kaneda is a Designated Professor, Executive Adviser of President in Kagawa University, Vice Director of Institute of Education, Research and Regional Cooperation for Crisis Management Shikoku (IECMS), Kagawa University, Japan.

He specialized in seismology and disaster mitigation science. He led two large projects related to earthquake and tsunamis in Japan. One of the projects dealt with developing an ocean floor network system in the Nankai Trough, through the Dense Ocean Floor Network System for Earthquakes and Tsunamis (DONET). The other project was concerned with seismic linkage around the Nankai Trough. He also conducted high-performance computer simulations to predict the compound earthquake and tsunami hazards that were seen in the 2011 Tohoku disaster. He also led an international earthquake research project with Turkey from 2013 to 2018 (SATREPS). This project used simulations to visualize crustal activity by sea bottom observations and other research results and also aimed to contribute to earthquake and tsunami disaster mitigation in Turkey. Also, He am leading a SATREPS project again in Turkey from 2023. On the other hand, He am conducting SRSD (Speedy Recovery System from Disaster) research using AI, simulation and monitoring data.  And He worked at Nagoya University until 2016 after joining JAMSTEC from 1997 to 2014.
